ISLE OF SKYE HAND DRAWN ILLUSTRATION

"None of Nature's landscapes have any ugliness as long as they are wild" John Muir.

And the Isle of Skye is one of the wildest places in this world. The Old Man of Storr is wild, rugged, infinite and imposing, and that's how I wanted to draw him... The Old Man of Storr has been here for so long that not even the elders know its origin. But there is a legend that tells that once this island was inhabited by giants who were continually at war with each other. The roars of their battles echoed throughout the island. The body of one of the giants fallen in battle was abandoned on the Trotternish peninsula. Time passed and the earth gradually engulfed its entire body until only this wild and capricious form remained outside. Some say it is the giant's thumb, and others say it is a more intimate part of his body. Either way, no one can remain unmoved by this place. Inspired by the energy that flows from the Old Man of Storr I drew these two images by hand.

Each illustration is unique, they are not replicas. I draw each illustration by hand, on commission, for each client. Completely hand drawn, in A5 size (15 x 21 approximately), on heavyweight, laid and textured, high quality paper, in cream or white color (depending on availability).
