According to tradition, Seiðr magic has 3 main elements: the staff, a magical chant and a throne or ritual seat. This information is always based on the writings of the Eddas and the Sagas. But Seiðr magic is much older, lost in the mists of time. It is impossible to know with certainty how this practice was in its beginnings, but we can be sure that its roots are in shamanism. Most of the people who practiced seiðr magic were women (called seiðkona). There were very few men who practiced seiðr (called seiðmaðr), since those who decided to engage in this practice were frowned upon in society and even considered effeminate. One of the reasons for this rejection is that the "manipulative" side (regarding the weather, difficult situations, poor harvests, illnesses ....) of seiðr magic went against the masculine ideal of a direct and frank attitude. Men who practiced seiðr were called "ergi" (unmasculine). There are two other words for practitioners of seiðr magic: völva (staff carrier) and spákona (seer).
Special thanks to my brother @fornleidh , an awesome craftsman, that made that seiðr staff for me time ago. Wild and nice day!!!
