He is special,he stands out from the crowd,he seems hidden in the shadows of the forest, but there´s something about him that is unique, the bunches of bright red berries, and the way his green leaves embraces those little fruits,it´s a perfect vision.Little fires in the darkness, make my eyes shine.Rowan, also called hunters´ tree, mountain ash or witch wood,is a truly magical tree, special and with a lot of history beneath his roots. It's said his name rowan comes from the rune word meaning mystery, whisper.A tree of fire,he represents the god Thor, his strength and his protection. The wood is used to make rune sticks and druid staffs and his magic is so strong that helps in divination rituals and stimulates psychic powers. In Scotland and the Isle of Man is tradition to make a protective amulet with two rowan branches joined together in the shape of a cross with a red thread.Carrying rowan wood on a ship keeps storms away,in houses he protects from lightning and if a rowan grows within a circle of stones he is an immensely powerful tree, and in Scandinavia if a rowan grows among rocks he is called a flying rowan. The fire of the sun rules over the rowan, and it sprouts small red berries that get lost among the forest paths.Rowan increases the strength of healing rituals. In Welsh cemeteries rowan was planted beside graves to give peace to the spirits. The small berries stand out against the white snow, and during the winter their deep red colour feeds the small birds. The fruits are high in vitamin C,help with pharyngitis ailments and lower cholesterol levels. The bark is also used for digestive problems, and the fruits are used to make a delicious jelly that was used since ancient times to treat scurvy.I could tell you a thousand mysteries about the rowan tree, but wouldn't you rather discover it for yourself? Walk into the forest, into his heart, where his soul and his fire reside, where his magic shines, where the rowan lives, where he is waiting. He´ll tell you a thousand stories of the past, and make you dream about the future..
