NAUDHIZ, PERSEVERANCE AND DESTINY

"Don't fight against your destiny, use it".


That is the mystery of the rune Naudhiz, Nauðr in Old Norse, which means need. Symbol of patience, Naudhiz is the inner fire that burns within all of us. This rune tells us that everything happens at the right moment, our destiny is written and to succeed we must adapt, we must wait to act otherwise we are doomed to failure. Naudhiz belongs to the second Aett, that of Heimdall/Hagall, so it is related to cosmic forces beyond the control of humans. It's linked to the Orlög, the norns and the passage of time. It's a rune of learning, strengthening and necessary for personal growth. Naudhiz is perseverance, endurance in the face of adversity and hardship. We need to know that our actions will have consequences in our destiny. It represents a crossing of the abyss, it will be difficult and painful, but we must be smart and have patience not to fail. It's a rune of spiritual protection and a powerful tool of love magic in Iceland. The color associated with Naudhiz is black, its tree is beech, its elements are fire and earth, and the norns are its personification.... They, always they, silent, constant and eternal. They know our destiny, they weave the threads and we walk on the tapestry. Don't fight against your destiny, don't fight against yourself...
