..and after several days walking, Rig found a second house with the door ajar and went inside to rest. Inside the house lived a couple named Afi (grandfather) and Amma (grandmother). The hearth fire was burning, and the couple was busy with their chores. Afi was carving a piece of wood, demonstrating his incredible skill as a wood craftsman. His hair and beard were groomed, his shirt tight. Amma was spinning in front of an old wooden spinning wheel. He was stretching his arms to spin, preparing the cloth, handling the spindle with skill. She wore a scarf around her neck, an apron over her chest and brooches on her shoulders. Rig sat with them and gave them advice. When night fell Rig shared a bed with the couple, sleeping between them. And so they did for three nights. Then Rig continued his journey. Nine months later Amma gave birth to a red-haired, rosy-skinned boy. They named him Karl (free man) and clothed him in linen clothes. Karl was skilled, built houses, tended oxen, made plows and carts...Karl married Snör (daughter-in-law) who wore a leather cape and kept the keys of the house. They had many sons and daughters and called them Brave, Craftsman, Keeper of Lands, Lady, Bride, Intelligent....among others. And their kids bore more kids, and from them was born the lineage of free men. While Rig continued on his way through paths and valleys, until he found another home..
